In Too Deep
![]() I honestly can say that I don't know why Jake decided to do this movie.
I love Jake, obviously, and he always brings a little "something" to the
characters he plays but this one, there was really nothing to bring.
His character was not pivitol and was hardly seen at all although his name
was 6th as the names were flashed on the screen. It didn't call for him
to do anything that he hadn't done before. Oh well. He plays State
Attorney Daniel Connelly. The main character played by Omar Epps [good job]
sees him on a ferry with his wife and two children. Jake was very cute in that
shot as his hair was natural, no hair gel. It was a medium length and
his bangs were swept to the side. It was a natural looking blonde. He
wore a thick knit turtle neck and oatmeal colorred jacket. It was supposed
to be cold I guess and since it filmed in November or so, I guess it probably
was cold since it was done in Toronto. He wanted to try and get the main
bad guy, played by LL Cool [did a very good job]. However, his character
told Epps that they were going to bust the bad guy on tax evasion charges
and hope that it would stick. Epps convinces Connelly that he can get in
deep enough so that the bad guy will trust him and he can bring him down.
Connelly pulls strings behind the scenes and gets Epps reinstated [his
supervisor, played incredibly well by Stanley Tucci, had pulled Epps
off the undercover job.] Jake is also in a brief night scene at his office
where Epps, Tucci and a DEA agent argue about Epps going ballistic
on a girl he's sweet on and getting arrested by cops. [When he was in
his official capacity, he chose to grease his hair back, making it look
more mousy brown.] He is also in the court scene where he asks Epps
questions and he's at the press conference talking away about the fine
job everybody did in catching the bad guy and putting him away so
that his group will never re-surface. And that's it. The Tucci character
was better but Jake isn't old enough looking to have played it. The one
draw-back to having such youthful looks, I guess. If we had been able
to see Connelly's works behind the scenes, then it might have been
something, but we don't. Oh well.
